Extreme weather changes from summer to winter temps during sale week didn’t deter attendance for another Eastern Breeders' Sale. The 82nd sale is now in the books for the longest running sales series of the Brown Swiss Breed. A group of interested breeders and potential buyers gathered for refreshments, cattle viewing and a look at the display for the Brown Swiss Historical Society on Friday evening. The recent “Brown Swiss Chronicle” was available to all and featured history of The Eastern Breeders' Sale.

“The Brown Swiss Marketplace for the Northeast” once again provided a wide variety of genetics to suit most all tastes and checkbooks. Cattle sold into 12 states as well as Peru, S.A.

A wider than normal range of selling prices reflected the economy to a certain degree. The top enders, however, included some of the highest sold in the U.S. this year and finding new homes in 8 states and Peru.

Top seller for the day and establishing a new record for this sale @ $16,500 was Top Acres C Wizzie Go ET. She is a Carter from Wizard “2E95”—the 2017 Madison Champion. Wizzie sold with a lucrative A.I. contract and Switzerland embryo interest. Her consignor was Booke Foote, Ft. Plain, NY and the buyer Coleton Meier, Ridott, IL.
Next in line was Lot 1 - Cutting Edge D Danielle ET selling for $12,750 to Luis Miguel Zegarra, Juliaca, Peru, S.A. Danielle is a daughter of Delilah “E94/95” the SUPREME CHAMPION at both World Dairy Expo and PA All American Dairy Show in 2018. This special calf attracted worldwide interest and was consigned by Kyle Barton, Elite Dairy, Copake, NY.

Another consignment reaching a five-figure price tag was also an Elite Dairy entry. Nierman Java Juice “E91/92” started the second half of the sale with a bang at $10,000. going to Magen Busker & Coleton Meier, Ridott, IL with Voegeli Farms contending.

The Eastern Breeders' Sale was again managed by Modern Associates, St. Paris, Ohio. Dave Bush handled auctioneer duties with Wayne E. Sliker as the box-man. Brian Garrison and Gordon DeMay worked the ring and the phones. New York Jr. members presented the cattle in the ring and Modern Associates clerked the event.
